With a weighted 88-key piano action, the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) keyboard reproduces the touch of an acoustic piano, from a naturally heavy feel in the lower range to a lighter touch in the upper octaves. The GHS keyboard provides a grand-piano-style response and feel, allowing rapid note repetition and authentic expressive control.

Expressive Variations with Three-Pedal System

To further enhance the YDP-105's acoustic pianolike authenticity, the three-pedal system provides rich expressive variations by replicating the position and individual weighting of the damper (with half-pedal support), soft, and sostenuto pedals of the Yamaha grand piano.

Damper Resonance modeling reproduces the broad and deep sound field of an acoustic piano by mirroring the tonal changes that result when a damper pedal on a grand piano is pressed. It includes sounds such as those emitted from the keybed and emulates the cumulative resonance that occurs when all of these sounds blend together.

Duo Mode for Playing Along with a Partner

Convenient Duo mode allows the piano's keyboard to be split in the center, making it possible for a teacher to play on one side while a student follows along on the other. The two players can play the same piano sound and octave range side by side.
The instrument is equipped with two headphone jacks for quiet performance or practice with two players.
